Recently, The American Center, New Delhi, with Tears of the Earth, hosted a two-part series on the intersection of Peace and Space Exploration. The Young Changemakers Dialogue was chaired by esteemed experts, including Dr Sanghamitra Dutta, Dr Swati Mohan, Dr Markandey Rai and Dr Sachin Bahmba, who delved deep into the transformative potential of space diplomacy in fostering global cooperation and unity.
The discussion underscored the pivotal role of space as a symbol of peace and progress. Dr. Dutta, a Program Executive at NASA, highlighted the role of space exploration in inspiring innovation and fostering cultural exchange among nations. Dr. Mohan, known for her contributions to NASA's Mars 2020 Perseverance mission, spoke passionately about the unifying spirit of space exploration in addressing global challenges. Drawing from his experience as a Senior Advisor at UN-Habitat, Dr Rai emphasized the importance of international collaboration in utilising space technology for sustainable development and conflict resolution. Dr Bahmba, renowned for his work in space education, outlined the importance of diplomatic efforts in ensuring equitable access to space education for all.
